Watch: Neil’s Next Challenge? Malta’s Superhero Swimmer Heads To The Airport to Tease New Announcement
When you’ve broken a World Record and still feel like your work is far from done, it might feel like there’s not much higher you can swim up to. Unless, of course, you’re Neil Agius.
The Maltese ultramarathon swimmer, former Olympian and Wave of Change activist has captivated his country and the world for half a decade now, breaking insane records with mind-boggling open-water uninterrupted swims… and it looks like Neil’s ready to dip his toes into the sea one more time.
In a video uploaded moments ago, Neil can be seen packing and heading to the airport, looking back on some incredible feats from the past, such as when he swam over 125 kilometres from Sicily to Gozo in 52 hours, breaking a world record for the longest continuous unassisted current-neutral swim ever.

Unfortunately, Neil’s last world record attempt in summer 2023, aptly named the “100-Mile Swim” had to be abandoned some 19 hours in after over 60 jellyfish stings overnight. But just over a year since that heartbreaking moment, he’s back for more… and a big announcement is just around the corner!
For now, the only information we’ve been given is what’s shown in the video: Neil is at the airport, and he’s ready to give his next swim announcement this Thursday, 25th July, and he’s promising to take “everything to the next level”.
Where do you think Neil is headed to next? How will he beat his previous records? Sound off in the comments below and stay tuned for more updates as we get them!
