Christmas time is usually a time for joy, peace, and, above all, for spending time with loved ones.

However, for people like Mary, Christmas can be a very lonely and dreadful period.

In a video published by the NGO Caritas as part of a telethon, Mary explains how she dreads the Christmas period and doesn’t even celebrate or decorate her home.

Mary goes on to say that she wishes she could be with her family as she was before but now she’s just alone. She eats her Christmas lunch across from her television as that’s the only company she has.

The fundraiser, focusing on the theme Biex Ħadd Ma Jħossu Waħdu, is being broadcast on all Maltese TV stations today from 11am to 11pm.
