Watch: Silvio Parnis’ Wife Tears Up As She Recollects How He Had Prayed For Cancer Recovery

The wife of the late PL MP Silvio Parnis teared up on a TV programme as she recounted her husband’s final moments, including his constant hope and optimism that he would recover from cancer.
“He was always positive and believed he would recover,” Dorianne Parnis said on the F Living show.

“He would always pray to the Madonna ta’ Pinu and Pope John Paul II. He was very religious and always used to pray. He would tell me that God forbid I end up going through the same pain he was suffering from because he would be too worried.”
F Living host Karl Bonaci backed up her comments, recounting how Silvio Parnis was so optimistic for a recovery that he was already planning future events and TV appearances.
“He would call me to plan future programmes and had told me that if his health returns, he would start organising coffee mornings again and take people to Gozo.”
Parnis, who spent 24 years as a PL MP, died earlier this month at the age of 57.
His wife described him as a “hard-headed man with a lovely character and a kind heart who always sought to help others”.
“I had known that people loved him and they stayed by his side and supported him till the very end. Everyone loved him, you couldn’t help but love him.”
“People meant everything to him. He would be out all day, leaving home at 6am and returning late at night after Parliament by which time his son would have fallen asleep.”
She said her husband had particularly loved elderly people and took it really badly when Prime Minister Robert Abela removed him from his role as Parliamentary Secretary for Active Ageing in 2020.
“We were in quarantine when he received the call and he took it really badly… I thought he was going to suffer from something.”
