Losing a pet is always heartbreaking; it takes a toll on you just as any form of grief would. When Titti the diving dog passed away, Malta mourned alongside her owner, Carmelo Abela. Shortly after her passing, Carmelo announced that he had adopted a pedigree Russel from Russia called Tina.

Tina has been given some pretty big boots to fill after Titti had been posthumously awarded a Lovin Social Media Award for ‘Best Pet’, but she’s already ‘making waves’ – Tina’s just taken her first paddles in St Peter’s Pool.

Last Sunday, she took her first ever swim with Carmelo

The four-legged treasure took to the sea like a duck to water and paddled about to say hello to everyone. Now, she’s just let the world know of her first swim in the Marsaxlokk waters and fans of Titti, old and new, are flocking to show their support for her.

Dedicating the short swim to her breeders back in Russia, Carmelo told Lovin Malta that Tina is already well into her diving practice, though it can take four to five years to really nail the technique.

At only 6 months old, she sure is getting stuck into her role. What do you think?
