Watch: ‘Today, We Celebrate You’ – Lorenzo Vella Remembered In Touching Malta Office Tribute Video
In a touching tribute video, Malta’s European Commission Representation head Lorenzo Vella was this morning remembered for his unmistakeable positive energy.
“Today, we celebrate you, Lorenzo,” @euinmalta wrote this morning. “Son, brother, husband, father, friend, colleague, Maltese, European. Today we unite to celebrate your energy, your positivity, your spirit of collaboration, your openness, your passions.”
“You may no longer be with us in person but your spirit lives on in the various fields you were passionate about,” the post continued. “Your memory lives on.”

Vella lost a brief battle with cancer last Sunday. He was 43 years old. A number of tributes quickly poured in from everywhere, including Prime Minister Robert Abela, who said he provided impeccable service to Malta and, in his youth, to the Labour Party.
Vella held a number of diplomatic roles throughout his career and was appointed to his position within the European Commission Representation in Malta last year.
He was given a final farewell this morning at the Christ The King Basilica in Paola, and it was announced that he will be cremated following the ceremony. A book of condolences has also been placed by the European Commission’s representation in Malta at its offices in Valletta.
