Watch: ‘What About Medicines And Supplies For Our Children?’ Blogger Calls Out Joseph Muscat’s Netflix Comment

Lifestyle blogger and mother Lorinda Mamo has called out Joseph Muscat’s comment about his freezing order impeding his ability to pay for a Netflix subscription.
“OMG!!!! Netflix is an issue!!???? Wtf!? What about medicines and supplies for our children (and adults) and skimping pennies to save and get second class crap and all the repercussions these kids go through…. Because money was going elsewhere!!!! Netflix is the problem???? U leeee,” she wrote on an Instagram story yesterday, before posting a video of herself, clearly frustrated at his comment.
Mamo went back to social media to explain her statement a little more, since she “ruffled some feathers”.
“I shared that story not because of who the person is but because of the principle of perspective. I just wanted to create some awareness and say things as they are, a lot of people know it but don’t say it.”
“Many of us are thinking the same thing. I’m not saying anything that’s shocking, I was really insulted and annoyed because where are the priorities here? It could’ve been anyone and I would’ve said the same thing.”
Mamo has her own experience with the health system in Malta, having gone through cancer herself and being the mother of a young boy who lives with Prune Belly Syndrome as well as Chronic Kidney Disease.
She also forms part of the Mater Dei Hospital Children’s Foundation which aims to empower and advance excellence in child healthcare and health research, ensuring the well-being of young patients and their families.
Meanwhile, Muscat recently lamented the fact that the €30 million freezing order that he has been placed under for his suspected role in the Vitals Healthcare scandal has made it hard for him to pay for small things like Netflix.
A recently concluded magisterial inquiry led to charges being initiated against Muscat for money laundering, bribery, corruption and more. The investigation looked into a deal that sought to privatise three public hospitals in Malta with the aim of boosting medical tourism.
However, two courts found this deal to be entirely fraudulent with many condemning the government for wasting tax payers money. The whole ordeal cost the country €400 million but this also includes costs like wages during the years the hospitals were functioning under Vitals and then Steward Healthcare.
