‘We Agreed To The Terms Of The Plea Bargain’: Pelin Kaya’s Family Assures They Did Not Give Up
Pelin Kaya’s sister, Derya, has shared that her family accepted the terms of Jeremie Camilleri’s plea bargain to ensure a “speedy conclusion” of this harrowing case.
“The Kaya family is the loser of this tragedy, Pelin will never come back and the pain will not go away,” she wrote in an Instagram story.
“Even though we think the murderer deserves the harshest punishment, to ensure the speed of justice considering the difficulty and exhausting nature of the process, we can confirm that we were consulted and included in the discussions held by the Attorney General’s office.”
“We agreed to the terms of the plea bargain.”
Derya said that the family made this decision not because they’ve given up, but so that they “can breathe a little”.
“I hope you can understand us, we seek refuge in the conscience of the people,” she ended her message.
Last week, Camilleri pleaded guilty to the brutal and intentional murder of Pelin just an hour into her 30th birthday.
Speaking to the press, the lawyer of the family admitted that nothing would rid of the pain. However, this admission of guilt will help heal the wound that keeps reopening every time the family has to travel to Malta for court hearings.
The final sentence hasn’t yet been served to Camilleri by the Judge.
