‘We Sincerely Apologise’: Fuel Station Explains Why They Refused To Help A Couple Whose Car Battery Went Flat

A fuel station situated between Lija and Mosta has clarified what happened during an incident where their staff allegedly refused to help a couple whose battery had died at the petrol station and were left stranded with their two-month baby in the car.

Lovin Malta reached out to Cassar Fuel Station, who said that it was a “big misunderstanding and miscommunication”.

A senior member of the team also commented under the original post, explaining their side of the story.

“I work at Cassar petrol station Lija. First and foremost I would like to apologise for yesterday’s incident however I was only made aware of the situation today after my superior called me about it. Yesterday I was busy in the shop when your husband asked for a booster. Since I was not aware of your situation, I told him that we only have new ones for sale. I was not aware that your car stopped in the station area otherwise I would have helped you for sure. The pump attendant was inside the garage repairing a puncture whilst the other has only been working there for a week, so he did not know that we could provide a battery and jump leads as we usually do in these cases.”

“I apologise again for the misunderstanding. If I was helping outside we would have handled the situation otherwise. I am sending you a private message as I sincerely am sorry for the mistake.”

The mother had originally taken to social media to express her feelings after the incident went down.

The couple had allegedly made their way to the petrol station to fill up, only to realise that, while doing so, their car battery ran flat. Whilst at the petrol station, they asked staff for help to boost their car but were refused.

“I honestly cannot believe how disgusting their attitudes were. My poor bay was burning in the car and even though they were fully aware, they still refused to help,” the mother involved in the incident said.
