Austrian Town That Inspired Frozen Puts Up Fence To Block Tourist Selfies

A scenic town called Hallstatt, tucked away in the Austrian mountains, is said to have inspired Disney’s hit movie Frozen, and draws thousands of tourists each year to marvel and take selfies.
However, the residents and mayor of Hallstatt are fed up with people flogging the area for pictures and have erected a wooden fence on a popular selfie spot.
It has since been removed after backlash on social media, but the mayor of Hallstatt hopes that it would send a message to disruptive tourists coming to soak in the views.

Instead, Mayor Alexander Scheutz said that he wants to put a banner in the area to remind tourists to be respectful of residents.
The Austrian destination, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has already introduced measures to curb “overtourism”, including a daily limit of buses and cars allowed to enter.
