Chun Wang, a crypto entrepreneur and Maltese citizen, is about to make history as the first Maltese passport holder to travel to space.

Wang, who became a Maltese citizen in 2023 through the golden visa scheme, will embark on his space mission in late March as part of Elon Musk’s SpaceX programme, Times of Malta reported.

The 42-year-old China-born businessman will command a four-person crew on a privately funded spaceflight, known as Fram2.

The mission will circle the Earth’s polar regions, marking the first time in history that a civilian crew will take this unusual north-to-south orbit.

Wang and his international crewmates from Norway, Germany, and Australia have undergone two months of intense training at SpaceX headquarters in California—the same training given to NASA astronauts.

What do you think about a Maltese citizen heading to space?
