In a significant move to showcase solidarity, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, alongside European Parliament President Roberta Metsola are set to visit Israel today.

The primary purpose of their visit is to convey their support and express solidarity with the victims of the recent Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel.

During the visit, the EU leaders will meet and engage in discussions with Israeli leadership.

The trip underscores the EU’s stance on the importance of peace and stability in the region as well as its commitment to backing Israel as tensions continue to rise.

The specific agenda and schedule of the visit still need to be announced.

This visit comes after a solemn moment organised by the European Parliament last Wednesday “in solidarity of the victims of the terror attacks in Israel”.

This action was co-financed by the European Union in the frame of the European Parliament’s grant programme in the field of communication. The European Parliament was not involved in its preparation and is, in no case, responsible for or bound by the information or opinions expressed in the context of this action.
