European Parliament Elections: Malta One Of Most Optimistic About EU’s Direction

Maltese citizens are some of the most optimistic about the general direction of the European Union, new data revealed.

Ahead of next year’s European Parliament elections, citizens were asked their views on the bloc. Maltese were largely satisfied with the bloc, with 44% of citizens agreeing that things are going in the right direction, placing it fifth overall.

In terms of election awareness, less than half of citizens across the EU bloc (45%) know that it will be held sometime next year.

Still, this is an increase of thirteen percentage points compared to the previous election (April 2018) and an increase of nine points since autumn 2022.

On heading to the ballot box, nearly half 48% of citizens placed a high importance on voting. Only 13% think that these elections do not matter much at all.
