‘Evidence Of Why We Can’t Give Up’: Pete Buttigieg Speaks On Trump ‘Backing Down’ With 90-Day Tariff Pause

Maltese-American politician Pete Buttigieg stated that US President Donald Trump’s decision to impose a 90-day pause on tariffs except those on China is him “backing down”.
“Sometimes, when he fails badly enough, Trump can be forced to do the thing he says he never does: back down,” the former mayor of South Bend and US Secretary of Transportation wrote on social media.
Today is just one more turn on the roller coaster – but it is more evidence of why we can’t give up or let go.”
One day after Trump’s global tariffs came into effect, he decided to suspend reciprocal tariffs on countries that responded to them with attempts at negotiation. The pause will last 90 days and will not apply to the blanket 10% Reciprocal Tariff on all trade partners, excluding Canada and Mexico.
Conversely, Trump increased the tariffs on Chinese imports from 104% to 125% for the “lack of respect it’s shown to World’s Markets effective immediately”.
While some see this as Trump backing down, others argue that this was an intentional negotiation tactic in an effort to isolate China from the global economic market.
Do you think Trump backed down or is this what he planned all along?
