Malta-Born Kevin Bonavia Elected To UK House Of Commons For Labour Party
Kevin Bonavia, a Malta-born British MP, has been elected to the UK House of Commons under the Labour Party.
Bonavia was elected in the county of Stevenage, which has turned Labour for the first time since 2010.
This shift was part of a landslide victory for the Labour Party, which is projected to secure over 400 seats.
According to the Times of Malta, Bonavia grew up in Rabat, where he helped his father rent umbrellas and boats to tourists on the beach. At age 8, he moved to the UK with his parents, who ran a local café before opening a video rental store.
During his electoral campaign, Bonavia promised the people of Stevenage five essential points on which he will work: to live locally, to be a full-time MP, to put the community first, to make parliament work for people, and finally, to use his allocated budget to open a local constituency office and to hire a dedicated team of caseworkers that will be accessible to all of Stevenage.
