Malta’s UN Ambassador Vanessa Frazier is currently in Tel Aviv, participating in meetings with high-level government officials to discuss the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2712, which was penned by Malta.

“Today in Tel Aviv during the briefing by the IDF on their war on Hamas I insisted with them regarding their responsibility under international law to minimise civilian casualties, protect civilians, civilian sites, humanitarian workers, medics and journalists,” Frazier said.

“While Israel has a right to protect its territory and its people against terrorist attacks, especially one as vicious, barbaric and abhorrent as that of 7th October, it also has responsibilities under international humanitarian law,” the UN Ambassador added.

Frazier also mentioned that discussions with the IDF would continue today, while calling for a ceasefire and the release of all hostages.

Frazier is set to visit the Kerem Shalom border crossing, the site of the Nova Festival, an evacuated kibbutz, and will meet with freed hostages as well as families of those still detained.
