Sole EuroMillions Winner Walks Away With Record €229 Million
The cost of living has soared in recent months. But this is a problem of the past for one UK-based lottery winner, having won £195m in the EuroMillions.
One ticket matched all seven drawn numbers, leading the winner to a jackpot of £195,707,000.00 (€229,798,661.33). The haul makes the ticket-holder the biggest winner of all time.
If you can’t fathom the enormity of this win, think about it as suddenly being able to purchase Southampton Football Club without having to consult the bank for a loan. You can even buy a fleet of submarines if that is your fancy.
The winning numbers were 6, 23, 27, 40, 41, with 02 and 12 being the additional ‘Lucky Stars’.
Malta is no stranger to the EuroMillions. The lottery draws two or three days a week, but some draws are so special they only come a few times a year.
It was established in 2004 and is consistently among the biggest jackpot in the world. Nine European nations are active participants, with Malta included.
To win, you have to pick any five numbers from one to 50, and two ‘Lucky Stars’ from one to 12.
There are a total of thirteen prize tiers, but to win, you must match all seven numbers. Ever wondered what the probability of winning a EuroMillions jackpot is? One in 139,838,160.
