Several other Islamic political and paramilitary groups joined the combat initiative following the same intentions and to provide support for one another, leading to escalated conflicts across the regions. The Shia Islamic groups suffered major casualties to their organisations, with Hezbollah losing around 30 of its senior leaders over several weeks, including Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary general and leader of the group.

Civilians have also been victims to these events, with up to 1 million residents being relocated from their homes in Lebanon alone, and around 100,000 given safe passage outside of the country. The death toll from all sides continue to rise to the thousands as military personnel and civilians alike continue to suffer the results of the attacks.

As expressed by the US official, the involvement of Iran in this growing conflict is inevitable, which in turn would “carry severe consequences for Iran.”

Due to the United States’ history with Israel and the open support for the state, both financial and social, many speculate whether any direct intervention will occur by the US following Iran’s possible involvement in the Middle-Eastern conflict.

“We are actively supporting defensive preparations to defend Israel against this attack,” the official confirmed.

Following the speculation and potential threats, the American Embassy in Israel has advised all American government bodies and their families to “shelter in place until further notice.”

“As a result of the current security situation, the US embassy has directed all US government employees and their family members to shelter in place until further notice. This is provided for your information as you make your own security plans,” the Embassy stated in a security alert release on its website.
