Watch: Deadly 7.3 Magnitude Earthquake Rocks Vanuatu, Leaving Destruction In Its Wake

A massive 7.3 magnitude earthquake has devastated parts of Vanuatu, flattening buildings, triggering landslides, and leaving the island nation in chaos.

The quake struck near the capital Port Vila early Tuesday, causing widespread destruction and cutting off power and mobile networks across the region.

There are unconfirmed reports of deaths, with at least one person confirmed dead and several others seriously injured, according to local authorities.

Video clips show flattened buildings, including a complex housing several Western embassies, and rescue operations are ongoing to search for survivors.

Vanuatu, an archipelago of 80 islands in the South Pacific, is prone to frequent earthquakes and natural disasters due to its location in a seismically active zone.
