Watch: ‘She’s A Gentle Soul’ – 35-Year-Old Maltese-Australian Woman Found Dead In Melbourne Home. Partner Arrested
A 35-year-old Melbourne woman was found dead in her home by relatives, yesterday morning.
Maltese-Australian Nikkita Azzopardi was discovered by her brothers and father on Monday morning after she failed to attend a family barbecue on Saturday and did not respond to multiple calls from relatives.
Police apprehended a 33-year-old man suspected of being involved in her death.
The suspect in question was later identified as Joel Micallef, who had been in a relationship with Nikkita for the past two years, as also confirmed by Nikkita’s brother Shaun, who found her in her home.
“She’s a gentle soul, she’ll help anyone, she’s a good listener, I’ve told her many things,” Shaun emotionally explained to ABC, “She was many things, she was an earpiece for me… she didn’t see the bad in people.”
Shaun shared with the news outlet that the last time he saw Nikkita was at his son’s 15th birthday party at a go-karting venue, which she had organised.
“I’m gonna miss her. It just feels like a dream to be honest, it doesn’t feel real,” he concluded.
Following a medical evaluation and interview, Micallef was charged with murder after appearing in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court just this morning.
Lovin Malta extends its sincerest condolences to Nikita’s family and friends.
