Watch: The Middle-East In The Past 24 Hours – 14 Paramedics And 20 Hezbollah Officials Confirmed Dead, IDF Attacks Yemeni Coast
The Middle-East has become the subject of never-ending conflict in recent years. Death tolls continue to tally up as the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) continues to target Lebanese cities intended to assassinate Hezbollah members.
The IDF claimed that they successfully assassinated Hezbollah Leader Hassan Nasrallah last Friday as well as several other commanders and senior leaders of the paramilitary group, totalling about 20. A recent development confirms the death of the former leader after his body was recovered from the group’s underground headquarters.
Iran supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, called for a “five days of national mourning”, as he claimed the death of the Hezbollah members were an act of “martyrdom.” Meanwhile, Israeli military officials celebrated the death of the leader, stating Nasrallah had “the blood of thousands on his hands.”
“Nasrallah was not another terrorist. He was the terrorist. He was the axis of the axis, the central engine of Iran’s axis of evil,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, following yesterday’s airstrike.
However, during the bombardment, multiple civilians lost their homes and lives. About 250,000 people have been relocated while thousands of others fled into Syria. The Lebanese health ministry came out to confirm that “this series of attacks killed 14 paramedics in two days.” The ministry condemned the repeated attacks that have claimed innocent lives, moreover speaks up about the killings of medical staff by saying, “paramedics do not participate in hostilities.”
Another Shia Islamist movement, based in Yemen, called the “Houthi” have been retaliating against Israel extensively in the past year. The motives behind the attacks were to stand in solidarity with Palestine, similar to Hezbollah.
Since, projectiles have been intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome, prompting no necessary retaliation from the state. However, in July, following a strike conducted by Houthi that claimed the life of one, the IDF responded with an attack on Yemen’s Hodeidah port.
Just this evening, a similar retaliation by the IDF was orchestrated on the same port in an alleged targeted attack on a coastal power plant. Footage has been surfacing on social media en masse, documenting the bombing.
In an official statement, IDF officials confirmed that “During an extensive, intelligence-based aerial operation, dozens of IAF aircraft—including fighter jets, mid-air refueling aircraft, and intelligence aircraft struck military targets belonging to the Houthi terrorist regime in the Ras Isa and Hudaydah areas of Yemen. The targets included power plants and a seaport used to import oil.”
So far it is unclear if any casualties resulted from this premeditated attack. However, updates might develop due to these events still unfolding.
