Watch: ‘This Is Not Foreign Policy, It’s Moral Cowardice’ – Daniel Attard On EU’s Israel Approach
Labour MEP Daniel Attard slammed the European Union for “roaring against some regimes but whispering against others”.
Attard was speaking during a European Parliament debate on the situation in the Middle East yesterday evening. He pointed out the EU’s hypocrisy and inconsistency when it comes to its harsh stance on Iran compared to its light one on Israel.
“This is not foreign policy, this is moral cowardice,” Attard said during a debate on the Middle East at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
Attard pointed out hypocrisy and inconsistency within the EU’s policy on Iran when comparing it to Israel.
“We must be unrelenting with Iran, but also strong with Israel’s brutality in Gaza, with Russia’s barbarity in Ukraine, with every tyrant who bombs hospitals and slaughters civilians.”
He said that human rights are non-negotiable and the EU has an obligation to make it known that it will call out and act against war criminals.
“If we stay silent in the face of tyranny means we are not just neutral, but complicit,” he powerfully concluded.
