Watch: Total Solar Eclipse Across Northern America Plunges Millions Into Darkness
A total solar eclipse crossed North America yesterday, from Mexico to Canada.
Hundreds of cities across 13 US states experienced a rare total solar eclipse today, with localities being temporary thrown into darkness at around 11am in the morning (8pm Malta time).

In all other parts of the continental U.S., a partial solar eclipse was visible, with the moon appearing to take a bite out of the sun. Exactly how big a bite depends on the location.
The view of the eclipse was pretty limited in Europe.
This year, the longest stretch of totality lasted four minutes and 28 seconds in an area northwest of Torreón, Mexico.
With the next total solar eclipse to be visible from the US not coming until 2044, check out some of the shots photographers across the country managed to capture.
