Activists Organise Demonstration In Favour Of Newly Proposed Legal Amendment
Doctors for Choice have announced a demonstration in front of parliament to show their support for the proposed legal amendment regarding pregnancy termination.
“On the 19th December we, along with other NGOs and like-minded people, will be in front of Parliament for the Parliamentary vote on Bill 28,” Doctors for Choice said.
“We invite anyone who supports this Bill, regardless of their views on abortion, to be there.”
“The bill is the bare minimum to save women’s lives and health, but it is a step in the right direction nonetheless, and we will be there to mark this historic moment,” they concluded.
The legal amendment isn’t a monumental change in the law, rather it’s a clarification that makes the saving of pregnant people’s lives through pregnancy termination a procedure without legal implications.
It protects doctors from liability and women from worsening and life-threatening health conditions while also saving them from enduring traumatising yet unnecessary situations.
