Budget Gets Good Rating, Labour More Trusted Than PN To Run Country’s Finances
The 2026 Budget appears to have gone down well with the public, according to the latest MaltaToday survey.
The findings show the budget was well-received, earning an average rating of 3.2 out of five. However, despite the extensive tax cuts targeting lower- and middle-income earners, only 30% of respondents say they’ve been left with more money in their pockets.

While 9.1% feel worse off following the Budget, a larger 40.5% say they are in roughly the same position as before.
When it comes to trust in managing the country’s finances, the Labour Party maintains a clear lead, with 49.7% of voters saying they trust Labour over the Nationalist Party’s 20.7%.
Finance Minister Clyde Caruana also enjoys a positive approval rating, scoring 3.4 out of five, including favourable feedback from some PN voters.
The results suggest that while the Budget was generally well-received, many Maltese remain cautious about its immediate impact on their personal finances — but Labour continues to hold the upper hand on economic trust.
