Cabinet Shake-Up Incoming? Camilleri Wants Out, Bonnici Tipped For Home Affairs

Prime Minister Robert Abela is believed to be mulling a mini-Cabinet reshuffle that will see Culture Minister Owen Bonnici move to the Home Affairs Ministry.
The move will mean that Bonnici will take on responsibility of the police, army, civil protection and prison services, among others.
Prime Minister Robert Abela is expected to meet ministers this afternoon to inform them of the changes.
Camilleri, who’s held the Home Affairs portfolio for over five years, has been requesting a change in portfolio for a while now, according to MaltaToday.
Camilleri had offered his resignation to the Prime Minister last February after a cannabis heist at an army barracks in Safi. An inquiry into the incident cleared the minister of any wrongdoing.
It’s still unclear who will take over Bonnici’s culture portfolio with Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi being one possibility.
Camilleri could be handed the Tourism portfolio which was only recently added to Deputy PM Ian Borg’s responsibilities, following the resignation of Clayton Bartolo.
Sources say Abela wants to keep the reshuffle minimal, with no plans to bring in new ministers.
