Delia’s Associate Attempted To Spy On Nickie Vella de Fremaux And Created Fake Profiles To Discredit PN Critics

The author of a letter containing sensational claims that one of Adrian Delia’s closest associates, Julian Micallef, asked a man to follow Delia’s ex-wife Nickie Vella de Fremeaux, and create fake profiles to undermine the PN’s current critics, has spoken about the letter exclusively with Lovin Malta.

Speaking to the newsroom, the author insisted that the letter was meant to be a private conversation between themselves and the party administration.

“I have no idea how it was leaked,” the author told Lovin Malta explaining that for him nothing came before “[his] party and [his] leader.”

“I hope this will be resolved internally and in a friendly and amicable manner since it was never intended to be public,” he continued.

The author explained that he “was, is, and will remain” a supporter of the party “no matter who the Leader is or was”, adding that he was spurred into action after seeing people within his own party rip themselves apart.

“How are we ever going to be unified if we’re backstabbing each other at every turn? We need to come together and not look to attack one another,” the author said.

“I have no agenda, no hatred towards anyone, I only wanted to do this out of duty to the party and leader,” the person continued.

What does the letter say?

In a letter addressed to the PN Leader, the author claimed that he had video evidence and text messages proving that Julian Micallef had asked him to follow Vella de Fremaux, who has had a very public separation from her former husband.

“If Julian Micallef denies this, I’ve got video evidence and messages on WhatsApp,” he wrote.

Adrian Delia, it should be noted, never received the letter.

The revealing document also sheds light on the in-fighting currently plaguing the PN with the author having also been asked by Micallef to attack Censu L-Iswed (Vincent Borg) over a photo with ex-leader Simon Busuttil.

“It was Julian Micallef who sent the photo of Jason Azzopardi’s ex-wife with [Delia] at the political activity in Marsaxlokk to upload onto my social media page towards the end of your campaign,” he continued.

In the lead-up to the PN Leadership election, journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia revealed that Micallef was one of the key figures in the Delia camp, going into detail over his and JP Debono’s attempt to coordinate the campaign to a not-so-secret WhatsApp Group.

Fake Facebook profiles were often used to discredit opponents in both the Leadership election and the General election before it, and it would seem that Micallef was also a key exponent of this form of political warfare, asking the author to set up at least 10 accounts to disparage PN MPs and candidates.
