In the face of a record low voting turnout, one disillusioned voter still took the time to draw an actual swastika under the Democratic Party candidates on their ballot sheet.

The photo taken by Lovin Malta also shows the word Korrotti (The corrupt) written within the boxes of Labour Party candidates.

This election has been tempered with far-right concerns after the arrest of two Armed Forces of Malta soldiers for the murder of migrant in a series of racially-motivated attacks.

Norman Lowell’s Imperium Europa has also begun to feature in the polls and is making a serious claim to being the third biggest party in Malta.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has told TVM that his projections are showing 55% victory for the Labour Party, with a record gap believed to be 45,000 votes.
