Edward Zammit Lewis Has Been Sworn In As Malta’s New Equality Minister

Edward Zammit Lewis has officially become the Minister for European Affairs and Equality after taking an oath of office this morning in a ceremony in Valletta’s Palace attended by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and President George Vella.

Dr Zammit Lewis has taken over the role after Helena Dalli, the former Minister, was nominated to become a European Commissioner.

Zammit Lewis had been serving as Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for European Affairs.

In a Tweet, Zammit Lewis said he was “honoured and humbled to serve again in cabinet under the leadership of our PM Joseph Muscat”

Wishing luck to his predecessor, Zammit Lewis concluded by saying he “looks forward to continue building on her unprecedented achievements”.
