Karl Stagno Navarro Leaks Prison Riot Video As Pressure Mounts On Security Minister To Resign

Labour activist Karl Stagno Navarra has shared alarming footage of a violent prison riot, where guards resorted to pepper spray to regain control.

The release of the video coincides with growing pressure for Security Minister Byron Camilleri to step down, following an Ombudsman report revealing degrading conditions under former prison director Alex Dalli.

The Nationalist Party has filed a motion of no confidence in Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri following the damning Ombudsman report.

In his post, Stagno Navarra dismissed the report as biased and accused the Opposition of hypocrisy, citing past prison escapes and harsh detention practices under PN governments.

Defending the current prison administration, he warned that excessive criticism was emboldening inmates and jeopardizing guard safety.

He underscored the daily risks faced by prison officers, including violent confrontations, improvised weapons, and threats such as arson attacks.

While the leaked footage appears to shift focus from the Ombudsman’s findings, scrutiny of the minister remains intense.
