Konrad Mizzi Is Hounded By The Pigs

We can safely say that Konrad Mizzi, the former Minister for Energy, is not having the best Tuesday. He was interrupted by a protest group while speaking at a public consultation event called Gvern li Jisma.
The protesters were from Moviment Graffitti – they walked onto the stage wearing pig masks and holding up placards which protested the government’s sale of public land.
So what exactly are Moviment Graffitti angry about? The sale of public land to private investors for less money than the land is supposedly worth – as in the recent case of the ITS site with an estimated value of €212 million, sold to the DB Group for €15 million.
They also cited Tigné Point, Zonqor, Manoel Island, Chambray, White Rocks, Pendergardens, Portomaso, Dock 1, Smart City and Fort Cambridge projects as examples of the government and the super rich profiting from the sale of public land.
In their own post:
Labour Party official Alex Saliba commented on the protest via Facebook, commending the ministers for allowing the group to make their voices heard, for answering their questions, and just letting them be.
Why the pig masks? Well, to protest what they believe to be the “pigging out at the people’s expense”. But we’re inclined to think there’s an also underlying Orwellian message nestled in there.
