“The Labour Party has done a lot of great work in moving Malta forward,” Engerer wrote on Facebook, sharing Evarist Bartolo’s status. “Those who didn’t have a voice have been given an equal voice, those who were unemployed are now working, roads which were destroyed are now being fixed and the country has gone from having a deficit to a surplus. In every field, we’ve moved Malta forward.”

“All of this can’t be lost,” Engerer pleaded. “The legacy of the Labour Party – and Prime Minister Joseph Muscat – can’t be overshadowed by the egoism of a couple of people”.

It was here that Engerer shifted towards all the work the Labour Government still has to achieve.

“An electoral manifesto that will lead to a Malta most of us would never have even dreamt of being able to live in,” he posited, going on to express his support for Joseph Muscat “in this moment of such a tough decision”.

Later, Engerer even extended his compliments towards Deputy Leader Chris Fearne’s comments on the situation.

Following Fearne’s comments that “no one is greater than Malta or the Labour Party”, Engerer was quick to congratulate the Deputy Prime Minister on his statements… despite a history of disagreements.

“I’m very critical of Chris Fearne on a lot of things related to health and LGBTIQ rights,” Engerer stated. “However, in this regard, I agree with him. Well done!”

“Just like Evarist said this morning – along with a large number of other MPs in the messages they’re sending, I can’t not also say well done to Chris.”
