Labour’s Youth Wing Could Get A New President As Georvin Bugeja Announces Plan To Contest
Labour’s youth wing FŻL could soon have a new president after Georvin Bugeja, 23, confirmed his intention to run for the top role.
“These are exciting times for the Labour Party. Our experiences have strengthened us and taught us how to overcome challenges and look to the future,” Bugeja, the current FŻL secretary general, said. “No decisions are easy but these are the moments that define us.”
Naomi Cachia has been President of the FŻL since 2017 and she has not yet confirmed whether she intends to challenge Bugeja for the post or not.
However, PL insiders are viewing Bugeja’s decision to contest for the President role at the upcoming Annual General Meeting as a move by Prime Minister Robert Abela to reward people who had supported his leadership campaign.
Sources told LovinMalta that Cachia is expected to meet Abela to discuss her future.
Meanwhile, Maria Ellul has nominated herself for the post of FŻL secretary general and Matthew Chetcuti for the post of FŻL vice president.
