The European Parliament votes are still being counted but a clear picture is starting to form about which candidates will be elected to represent Malta in Strasbourg.

After assessing the first count vote, several observers from within the counting hall provided Lovin Malta with identical assessments.

Labour MEP Miriam Dalli is by far the most popular candidate overall and is a dead cert for re-election. Former Prime Minister Alfred Sant appears to be second, but by quite a distance.

Meanwhile, PN MEP Roberta Metsola is the clear frontrunner from her party, while David Casa has emerged as a “strong second” and Frank Psaila appears to be in third place.

Vote inheritance is crucial in determining which candidates will win Malta’s six seats and it is as yet unknown how the votes will be transferred.
