National Demonstration Calling For Justice For Daphne Caruana Galizia This Sunday
The Civil Society Network is organising a National Demonstration this Sunday at 4pm at City Gate in Valletta. The demonstration will be calling for justice in the wake of Daphne Caruana Galizia’s assassination.
This demonstration comes at the end of a week of vigils, silent protests, and direct actions by angry and hurt Maltese citizens. Events mourning and celebrating journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia’s life and tragic and brutal end have been organised by a variety of groups, from journalists to students.
The demonstration on Sunday is open to everyone to attend, and calls upon the public, all NGOs, civil society organisations as well as political parties to come together in their call for justice.
People are encouraged to bring Maltese flags with them.
As the investigations into Caruana Galizia’s murder begin in earnest, a section of the Maltese population is making it clearer every day that they have no faith in Malta’s Police Force, amongst other Maltese institutions.
A petition calling for the resignation of the Police Commissioner has already garnered thousands of signatures, and more and more people are calling on his, as well as other police officials, to resign.
