Move over Stranger Things or whatever other series Netflix has just churned out it’s the Nationalist Party’s never-ending problems that are the best cliffhangers, at least according to Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.

“It’s like at the end of every season of a TV show, you think they’ve solved everything but just like that a new problem emerges and it starts to crumble once again,” Muscat said in a short interview on ONE TV.

Muscat was speaking after PN Leader Adrian Delia managed to survive any internal opposition by winning a confidence vote within the general council with a two-thirds majority.

“He beat Simon Busuttil,” Muscat said in a reference to his bitter rival,” I now hope that [Delia] manages to get a grip over the party.”

“The opposition needs to move forward for the good of the country,” he explained adding that the PN needed to have a clear vision of what political direction it wanted to take.

The Prime Minister also briefly spoke about Minister Helena Dalli’s nomination for EU Commissioner, saying she had all the credentials to succeed in the post.

He also said that by nominating a woman, it proved the Labour Party’s long-standing credentials in fighting for gender equality. It should be noted that incoming EU Commissioner Ursula von der Leyen required all EU member states to nominate two commissioners (one male and one female) for the post.

Muscat also referred to outgoing EU Commissioner Jean Claude Juncker’s visit to Malta, who he said confirmed the country’s positive reputation within the EU Commission, which is the “most important EU institution” according to the Prime Minister.
