PN Leader Tells Rebels: ‘Join Me As I Renew And Reform The Party’
Opposition leader Adrian Delia extended an olive branch to Nationalist councillors who voted to remove him, urging them to work with him as he attempts to “renew and reform” the party.
“I will do my utmost to ensure that there is no majority and minority within the party, but one whole party where everyone feels included and welcome,” Delia told his supporters, moments after he survived a confidence vote by securing 68% of the vote.
There was open hostility in the crowd at the ‘rebels’, with someone shouting out ‘Barra’ as soon as Delia referred to the third of the PN General Council which voted to remove him.
However, Delia insisted there is still room for those voters within the PN and invited to come forward one by one.
“To all those who voted No, I recognise your message that you want a strong and credible party,” he said. “I invite all of you, one by one, to be active within the party and be part of this reform process.”
