PN MP Alex Borg Slams One News As A ‘Deceitful PL Spin Room’ After IVF Interview
PN MP Alex Borg has taken to social media to criticise One News for its “deceitful” coverage of an interview he gave. In this interview, he explained his vote against an IVF bill which the PN has long been seeking to amend.
“As usual, One News is acting as a a deceitful spin room for the PL – instead of offering truthful journalism about the facts,” said Borg on social media.
In the interview, Borg defended his voting position against the IVF law – as he and his PN colleagues have requested the addition of amendments which would “guarantee that embryos would not be discarded because they were considered ‘not viable’”.
One News implied that Borg was “against life” by citing Health Minister Chris Fearne sharing news that thanks to the PL pushing for their version of an IVF law – 16 new children have been born.
Borg insisted that with the amendments proposed by his party in place, these 16 children would still have been born – and that the PN is seeking to ensure that embryos won’t be discarded if deemed “not viable”.
Borg turned the accusations made against him back at the PL – insisting that the PN’s position would ensure that more children were born – not fewer.
“With our amendments more babies are born.”
Borg continued to delineate his belief that the portion of the interview shown to One News viewers was edited to ensure that his words were taken out of context.
“We are in a democracy and we accept the democratic process that takes place in parliament,” said Borg.
“The aim of this article is to deceive, and nothing else.”
