PN Treasurer: ‘I Need Advice From Someone Who Understands Bankink’
Antoine Zammit, the Nationalist Party’s new treasurer, has raised eyebrows with a post inside a Facebook group for PN supporters, in which he asked for advice on ‘bankink’ [sic].
“I would like some advice regarding the party from someone who understands in ‘bankink’, if there is someone can you please send me a private message. Thanks,” Zammit posted.
Former PN candidate and radio host David Thake shared the treasurer’s request for advice, mockingly stating that there’s no problem in sight.
Zammit, who owns a computer repair store, was appointed PN treasurer last July, having been the only person to apply for the role.
The role of treasurer is a particularly sensitive one as it involves taking care of a political party’s accounts and donations. As per the party financing law, a treasurer is personally liable to a fine of up to €20,000 if the Electoral Commission finds irregularities in the party’s donations.
