Simon Busuttil Accuses Adrian Delia Of Siding With Joseph Muscat Instead Of The Fight Against Corruption
Internal warfare within the PN has reached a new level as former Opposition leader Simon Busuttil accused the current leader Adrian Delia of “siding with Prime Minister Joseph Muscat instead of the fight against corruption”.
In a Facebook post, Busuttil confirmed that he has rejected Delia’s request to resign from the PN parliamentary group.
“Dr Delia took this decision without having read the entire inquiry report on Egrant,” Busuttil wrote. “Dr Delia wants to remove me from the party but also expects me to continue working on the ongoing inquiries into Keith Schembri and Konrad Mizzi. This is a huge contradiction.”
“I maintain that it is the duty of an Opposition to speak about serious allegations, particularly when they concern a Prime Minister whose close allies were already caught with secret Panama companies. Moreover, this must be taken in context of the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia, of the winding down of Pilatus Bank and the arrest of its owner in the United States. I am proud to be fighting for justice and will continue doing so, even if by myself.
“Dr Delia has chosen to support Joseph Muscat instead of to strengthen the PN in its fight against corruption, and we have now reached an absurd stage whereby the PL is praising Delia. The PN must remain united in the fight against corruption and I urge Dr Delia not to allow Jospeh Muscat to play him or to use this situation as an excuse to get rid of me.”
