‘Stop The Genocide’: Adrian Delia Draws Parallel Between Holocaust and Gaza

Nationalist Party leadership candidate Adrian Delia has drawn a powerful parallel between the Holocaust and the current situation in Gaza, calling on European Union member states to stop enabling what he described as Israel’s “genocide” of Palestinians.
Delia, who is contesting to once again lead the PN, said his stance is rooted in the same sense of solidarity he felt as a child learning about the Holocaust.
“On the 7th of October 2023, Hamas attacked Israel in a brutal and condemnable attack,” he said. “I abhor the attack and the loss of life and the hostage-taking, but the brutal Israeli occupation is as much to blame for the death and kidnapping of its citizens.”
Delia went on to accuse Israel of using the attack as a justification to carry out widespread atrocities in Gaza.
“Since then, the Israelis have killed, raped and tortured tens of thousands of Palestinians with the goal of turning the occupation of a people into its annihilation,” he said.
He added his voice to those of prominent international figures such as Francesca Albanese, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, who has described the situation in Gaza as a genocide.
“Without the constant support of the USA and many countries in our European Union, the Israeli effort will falter and the genocide will stop,” Delia said.
He urged the public and political leaders to abandon silence and speak out.
“Our silent and private condemnation is useless. We must speak out,” he said.
“All of us should voice our outrage at what is happening in Gaza in the same way that we expressed outrage at what happened in Auschwitz.”
Delia’s statement adds to a growing wave of criticism directed at Israel’s actions in Gaza – and at the international community’s continued support – as civilian casualties mount and the humanitarian crisis deepens.
