‘The Cabinet Reshuffle Was Minimal And Cosmetic,’ Bernard Grech Says
Opposition Leader Bernard Grech criticised Prime Minister Robert Abela’s cabinet reshuffle calling it a mere “minimal and cosmetic” change.
“Today [Saturday] was more confirmation of how much Robert Abela’s hands are tied as he did not manage to make the change with the strength that he formerly said he would,” Grech wrote on social media.
“The total re-shuffle that he said he would carry out ended up being only a minimal and cosmetic change as he had to give in to the pressure of his Ministers.”
Meanwhile, a statement by the Nationalist Party as a whole echoed Grech’s words.
“Saturday was another day where Robert Abela failed to carry out a re-shuffle of his Cabinet, as his Ministers resisted this re-shuffle and disrupted everything that their leader had planned.”
“Abela told everyone that he had to do a total reshuffle and all he managed to make were minimal and cosmetic changes.”
Yesterday, Abela’s reshuffle increased the cabinet, which has already been criticised as being too big, from 22 to 26 members.
In this change, Aaron Farrugia lost his post as Transport Minister and was not given a new portfolio.
Do you think that the cabinet reshuffle was underwhelming?
