European Parliament President Roberta Metsola has spoken out following the solidarity gathering for former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat in Valletta outside of Malta’s court earlier today.

“The scenes outside the law courts today are not what Malta should be about. Today is a reminder of just how hard we all need to work to push our country forward. Of how badly the Prime Minister has lost control,” Metsola stated.

“We need real leadership. We need this constant Government-fuelled tribalism to stop. Our politics needs to go beyond the Prime Minister’s hyper-partisanship. We need justice to work without political pressure,” the EP President added.

Metsola went on to state how today serves as a reminder for the upcoming MEP elections on 8th June.

“If you’re still wondering about the value of your vote, look at Valletta today. This country deserves better – and that is in your hands,” Metsola concluded.
