‘Tomorrow Started Today’: Roberta Metsola Instills National Hope During PN Mass Meeting

President of the European Parliament (EP) and MEP on behalf of the Nationalists Roberta Metsola addressed the Nationalist Party’s (PN) mass meeting with an inspiring speech attempting to instill hope in the nation.
“We believe that our country can be run seriously. Yes, with wisdom and determination, we can get there. With hope and courage, we can get there.”
The crowd gathered on the eve of the 59th anniversary of Malta’s independence at the Triton Fountain in Valletta. Hundreds of people were seen keenly listening to the words of one of Malta’s most successful politicians.
Her main message focused on the need for excellence in everything that is done for Malta, as well as what is done by Maltese and Gozitan citizens.
“Let’s start a national conversation where everyone feels like a participant so that we can build the future of this independent and European people together.”
“We are built on high standards and we are capable of meeting them,” she reminded.
Metsola went on to talk about the vision for Malta and Gozo which should be based on an economy that pours wealth into the pockets of the many. She mentioned the importance of new profitable economic sectors, echoing the EU’s industry priorities.
“Let’s go for them with all our energy: artificial intelligence; technology; social enterprises; clean tech. We can protect our industries and create new ones.”
Meanwhile, to achieve the vision of excellence, it is necessary to make the biggest investment in children, Metsola urged.
Another integral topic that Metsola spoke about was the development and construction industry in Malta, saying that it should be done better and more beautifully.
“Developments must respect the character of our villages and towns, respect the neighbours. Developments should not want to destroy open spaces.”
“A better environment also means that we. must have the best environmental facilities and cope with the demand.”
She said that this requires thinking, serious planning, and making the right decisions before urging that the local infrastructure must anticipate the needs of the islands.
When speaking about Gozo, Metsola said that the sister island could be at the height of the digital transition in Europe, as well as an excellent environmental model.
“Our desire for Gozo to be an economic, environmental, and tourist showcase for what our country can offer is great.”
Metsola concluded her optimistic speech by pleading to the people of Malta and Gozo to believe in themselves.
“Tomorrow started today. We started building tomorrow now.”
