‘Unforgivable’: Arnold Cassola Offers ‘Sincere Apology’ After Accidental ‘Very Bad Swear Word’ During MEP Debate

Independent Arnold Cassola has offered “a sincere apology” if he innocently ended up saying “a very bad swear word” in the middle of the first MEP candidate debate yesterday at University’s Sir Temi Zammit Hall.

“I was repeating the phrase “kemm Alla ħalaq” and for some reason I got into a tongue twister that came out as a very bad swear word,” Cassola wrote. “I would not have even realised had not the audience started laughing.”

In a light moment from the debate shared by Lovin Malta earlier today, Cassola could be seen having to be told by PL candidate Daniel Attard about his slip of the tongue. Seconds later, he was spotted running through what he had just said before humorously coming to the realisation.

“I sincerely apologise for this unforgivable phrase, which was totally unintentional, out of context and which does not form part of my vocabulary,” Cassola finished. “My sincere apologies to all those present and beyond.”

And while Cassola’s meme-worthy moment has been viewed thousands of times and has been steadily gaining a lot of traction in the last couple of hours, it looks like many people understood that this was clearly a momentary – and unintentional slip up. Don’t worry Arnold – it happens to the best of us!
