WATCH: Adrian Delia Urges People To Protest Tonight: ‘We Have The Power Of The Streets’
Opposition leader Adrian Delia has urged people to turn up at tonight’s protest, which is being held to call for the resignation of Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.
“You have an opportunity. Speak, talk, stand up, make your voices heard, don’t be afraid to call out wrongdoing, point out things you don’t like and tell the government that it may have the strength of power but we have the power of the streets,” Delia said in an interview with NET.
The protest will be held at 6:30pm outside Castille and will call for the resignation of Muscat in light of the recent arrest of Yorgen Fenech in connection with the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
“Joseph Muscat has a clear political responsibility,” protest organisers Repubblika, Occupy Justice and Manuel Delia said. “If he had dismissed Keith Schembri and Konrad Mizzi when the Panama Papers confirmed Daphne Caruana Galizia’s reporting that these two set up secret Panama companies, Daphne Caruana Galizia would be alive today.”
“To protect his friends Joseph Muscat suffocated the rule of law, sowed impunity and thanks to him Malta reaped violence. They killed a journalist to avoid prison.”
After the protest, Delia will head down to Ħaż-Żebbuġ to address a political activity marking 38 years since Nationalist supporters were attacked in the locality.
