Watch: Alex Borg Calls For Unity Ahead Of Tonight’s Protest Against Latest Government Scandal
PN Shadow Minister for Gozo, Alex Borg, took to social media with a passionate message encouraging people to join tonight’s protest in front of Parliament, which was called by the Nationalist Party last Thursday.
The protest follows the latest scandal involving Ministers Clint Camilleri and Clayton Bartolo, as well as Bartolo’s partner, Amanda Muscat.
Borg urged the public to participate in the demonstration, stating, “This is not a protest of a party; this is a protest of those who are thirsty for change in the country.”

He emphasised the need for a new leadership that is fair, inclusive, and for the people, adding, “Let’s together write a new and fresh chapter for our country.”
The protest was sparked by revelations from a standards commission inquiry, which found that Amanda Muscat, Bartolo’s wife (then girlfriend) and former secretary, was awarded highly-paid consultancy roles within two ministries despite being unqualified for the positions.
Her salary reportedly began at €62,000 and later increased to €68,000, with little evidence to show she performed work beyond basic secretarial tasks.
PN Leader Bernard Grech addressed the situation in a Facebook post last week, stating, “Another week, another scandal from our government. We are all paying for their corruption.”
Tonight’s protest aims to bring together those seeking accountability and leadership that prioritises fairness over favouritism.
Meanwhile, yesterday, Prime Minister Robert Abela reiterated that the two Ministers will be not asked to step down.
