Watch: Bernard Grech Doesn’t Exclude Having Roberta Metsola On PN Ticket In Next Election

Nationalist Party (PN) Leader Bernard Grech has not ruled out the possibility of European Parliament President Roberta Metsola joining the PN ticket for the next general election.
During a discussion on the PN’s solutions for Maltese and Gozitan families earlier today with two other journalists, Lovin Malta’s Ana Tortell questioned Grech about Metsola’s strong public approval and frequent appearances in Malta.
“So Roberta Metsola keeps her appearances in Malta very regular, and both the EU elections and recent polls show she is quite favoured among the public,” Tortell noted. “Is there a possibility that you will both be on the PN ticket in the next election?”

Grech’s response left the door wide open: “First things first, I do not exclude anything.”
The PN leader elaborated on Metsola’s integral role within the party, highlighting his conscious decision to place her in the spotlight during the Independence Day mass meeting in September 2023.
“A leader who wants his team to move forward does not care about only showing himself and being in the spotlight, but rather about ensuring that everyone grows—because the team is important,” Grech said.
Grech emphasised that Metsola is a core part of the PN team, describing her as “born in the PN (politically)” and noting that her rise to European Parliament President was achieved “thanks to the PN” and her own merit.
“She will continue to be part of the equation in the future, in any position or possibility we see that could help the party while also helping her,” he added.
