Watch: ‘Buckle Up And Settle Down’ – James Ryder Officially Launches MEP Campaign

Now that the dust has settled and April Fool’s is a whole workweek away James Ryder is making sure everyone knows his announcement to be an MEP candidate is not a joke 👀

“It’s all true,” Ryder said in a short clip uploaded moments ago as his first statement (which he also uploaded in Maltese). “I am contesting the MEP elections this June. Why? Because Democracy allows me to.”

“But being a comedian doesn’t define me,” Ryder continued. “I, like most of you, am a human being with a whole range of emotions. I am also a Maltese citizen and a proud European who has grown weary of the state of our nation. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I focus a lot of my attention and efforts into the projects I take seriously. And believe me. I am taking this very seriously.”

“But that doesn’t mean I will be handling it seriously,” he cheekily continued. “As we’ve already made clear I AM a comedian. I will be running this campaign as honestly as I can and that means you’re going to be treated (or subjected) to an election campaign like no other. So buckle up and settle down. I promise to work hard to represent the Common Man. And there is no one more common than me.”

“I will never promise to do anything I can’t deliver on,” Ryder vowed. But I will promise to try. To try and safeguard our island’s little remaining beauty, to try and make Malta something the future generations can be proud of and to try and make you laugh along the way.”

“I have my eyes set on Brussels,” he finished. “And I need your votes to get me there. So lets put Democracy to the test and keep in mind; We’ve had worse.”

Would you consider voting for James Ryder in the upcoming MEP elections?
