Watch: ‘I Was Threatened’ – Local Council Candidate Says PL Wanted Him To Reveal Names Of People Behind Swieqi Poster
Back in February, Swieqi residents erected a sign with the phrase “Toroq Imħarbtin Għalik” parodying its neighbouring sign stating “Toroq Aħjar Għalik”: a common slogan propped up in Maltese towns by Infrastructure Malta.
Swieqi Local Council candidate Jordan Galea Pace is alleging that a Labour councillor of his locality threatened him with the police to disclose the names of the residents who put up the poster and to take the sign down.
Galea Pace made these claims at a public event held by PN MEP David Casa, where he recalled how “some weeks ago, some Swieqi residents erected the poster just six metres away, so that perhaps the roads works on their street would be completed, 10 years after it was practically abandoned.”
“When I stuck my neck out for them, the adversary camp threatened me with the police so that I would reveal who was behind it. Not only is the poster still there, but the road is now being finished. This is why I will not be silenced.”
What do you make of Galea Pace’s accusations?
