Borg Bonello went on to point out the irony in the Labour government branding themselves as the Workers’ Party, as well as the sense of disillusionment she’s felt this last year as a young person in politics.

“This last year, there were many moments that, after I saw certain scenes in Parliament, I’d go home, look in the mirror, and say ‘Is this why I got into politics? To listen to lies and impunity from people with smiles on their faces? So that I hang around criminals?'”

“They stole from the mouths of your friends and families. But what’s important to the party is that they wear designer clothing, that they’re in awe of how bright the necklaces that are hanging around their necks are.”

“As the now independent candidate said, in a chat with an alleged murderer – ‘doesn’t everyone indulge? (mhux kulħadd jitħanżer?), as long as it’s off the backs of the people, isn’t it OK? What’s wrong with it?” she said, seemingly calling out former PL MP Rosianne Cutajar for her chats with Yorgen Fenech.
